The Journal of Creative Practices in Language Learning and Teaching (CPLT) is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in scholarly publishing. All parties involved in the publication process, including authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher, are expected to observe responsible and professional practices. CPLT aligns its publication ethics with the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). (buat live link to COPE website https://publicationethics.org/).
- Duties of Editors
Editors evaluate manuscripts on the basis of academic merit, including originality, clarity, relevance, and scholarly contribution, without discrimination based on gender, nationality, institutional affiliation, or other personal characteristics.
Editors and editorial staff must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and must not disclose information about a submission except to those directly involved in the review and publication process.
Editors are required to avoid conflicts of interest and must withdraw from handling a manuscript where such conflicts exist. Editorial decisions must remain independent and must not be influenced by financial, commercial, or personal considerations.
Where concerns arise regarding plagiarism, fabricated data, unethical research practices, or other forms of misconduct, editors will investigate the matter in accordance with recognised ethical procedures, including COPE guidance. Appropriate action may include correction, retraction, or referral to the relevant institution.
- Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers contribute to editorial decision-making by providing objective, constructive, and timely feedback aimed at improving the quality of manuscripts.
All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential. Reviewers must not share, retain, or use the content for personal advantage.
Reviews should be conducted fairly, respectfully, and professionally. Reviewers should avoid personal criticism and focus on the scholarly quality of the submission. They should also identify relevant uncited sources and alert the editors to possible overlap, plagiarism, or duplication.
Reviewers must decline invitations to review if any conflict of interest may affect their impartiality.
- Duties of Authors
Authors retain copyright of their work published in CPLT. By submitting to the journal and agreeing to publication, authors grant CPLT the right to publish, distribute, and archive the article as part of the journal’s official scholarly record.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work is original, accurate, and ethically conducted. Manuscripts must not contain fabricated, falsified, or misleading data.
All submissions may be screened using Turnitin or equivalent similarity detection software. Manuscripts with excessive similarity or evidence of plagiarism may be rejected.
Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time, nor republish substantially similar material without proper acknowledgement and justification.
Only individuals who have made significant scholarly contributions should be listed as authors. All listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission and publication. CPLT encourages transparency in author contributions, including the use of recognised contribution frameworks where appropriate.
Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the research or its interpretation.
Manuscripts previously shared as preprints may be considered for submission, provided that this is clearly disclosed and appropriately cited.
Authors are encouraged to retain and, where appropriate, share research data or supporting materials to promote transparency and reproducibility.
Research involving human participants or animals must comply with relevant ethical standards and institutional requirements. Authors must provide evidence of ethical approval when requested.
Where AI tools or third-party editorial services have been used in preparing the manuscript, such use should be disclosed appropriately. AI tools must not be listed as authors, and full responsibility for the content remains with the human authors.
If authors discover significant errors in their published work, they are expected to inform the journal promptly and cooperate in any correction, clarification, or retraction process.
- Ethical Oversight
CPLT applies ethical oversight throughout the publication process. Allegations or evidence of misconduct, including plagiarism, data falsification, unethical research conduct, or authorship disputes, will be investigated carefully and confidentially.
Where misconduct is confirmed, appropriate action may include rejection of the manuscript, publication of corrections or retractions, restriction on future submissions, or notification to the relevant institutions.
- Post-Publication Discussion and Corrections
CPLT supports responsible post-publication discussion and scholarly engagement. Where necessary, the journal may publish corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern in order to preserve the integrity of the academic record.
Corrections may be issued for honest errors that do not invalidate the main findings. Retractions may be issued for serious ethical breaches or unreliable content. Expressions of concern may be published where investigations remain ongoing or inconclusive. Any such notices will be clearly identified and linked to the original article.
- Misconduct, Complaints, and Appeals
CPLT follows recognised ethical procedures, including COPE guidance, in handling suspected misconduct during or after peer review.
Authors, reviewers, and readers may submit complaints relating to editorial conduct, peer review, or publication ethics. All complaints will be handled fairly, respectfully, and confidentially by the editorial team.
Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a formal request to the Chief Editor. Appeals will be reviewed by an appropriate editorial representative not directly involved in the original decision. The outcome of the appeal process will be final.
- Statement of Commitment
By submitting a manuscript to CPLT, authors confirm that they have read and agreed to the journal’s publication ethics and malpractice policies. These policies reflect the journal’s commitment to responsible, ethical, and credible scholarly publishing and may be reviewed and updated periodically in line with current publishing standards and COPE guidance.
